The Nairobi Series
Sportzworkz, a Delhi-based television production company, produced the live coverage of the Nairobi Series, a triangular one-day international cricket tournament that took place in the month of August 2004.
Sportzworkz produced the coverage for broadcast by Ten Sports, the Dubai-based Asian and Middle-Eastern cable and satellite broadcaster, in Asia, and by the Nation Media Group in Africa.
The tournament featured Kenya and the A teams of both India and Pakistan and involved each side playing the others three times before the top two teams progressed to the final.kenya was witness to some exciting and competitive cricket in the last fortnight, this time featuring the 'A' teams of Pakistan and India, and pitted against the hosts Kenya.
Sportzworkz, the Delhi-based production company, made its debut in sports production, as they produced the series which was telecast on TEN SPORTS. Nation TV, Kenya's National Channel, contributed its bit in developing cricket in Kenya, by televising live the matches played at the Nairobi Gymkhana. After making a poor start to the tournament, by losing the first game to hosts Kenya, the India 'A' team bounced back strongly by winning the remaining matches, and took the Sanvijay Nairobi Series by beating Pakistan in the final on the 22nd August.
India 'A' played some brilliant cricket right through the series, winning six of the seven games they played. It was heartening to see the commitment and the enthusiasm of the Indian players - Sairaj Bahutule, the India 'A' captain, led from the front picking up 12 wickets - Mahendra Dhoni, the Bihar wicket keeper-batsman - the find of the series for India A - finished top run getter with 362 runs, Amit Bhandari, the Delhi medium pacer, gave his captain the initial breakthroughs in almost every game to finish with 12 wickets in all. Openers Gautham Gambir and Dheeraj Jadhav were also amongst the runs
International television rights for the tournament were distributed by Twenty First Century Infrastructure, a company based in Nagpur in India.
